UNFORGETTABLES
Superstorm Sandy was the second storm that Jason Awtry worked. He said “it was an eye opening experience” and that he went from “not knowing anything to learning lots quickly.” Part of his learning took place during the previous storm, when he worked with fellow team member Charlie Evans who happens to be his-father-in law. Jason said, “working with your father-in-law is great, but you have to figure out what to call him.” During the storm, “Pop” became “Charlie” as Jason worked as his “assistant.” He remembers hearing, “Jason do this” quite a few times.

Jason said he spent most of his time sitting in the back of an SUV, making phone calls and working on the computer, doing anything that he was asked. Jason recalls Charlie sharing a few words of wisdom with him before they left for the storm. Since they were driving into areas where restaurants were closed due to power outages, Charlie warned of “no lunch” and advised Jason to “eat when you have the opportunity to eat.” Jason took this advice to heart and said he ate as much as he could every meal, was sure to stock up on snacks at every stop, and even came home with a few extra pounds!

Today, Jason has become a vital part of the Storm Services Engineering team. He has a storm role and a day-to-day role in the company, and he does an exceptional job at both. Our company is proud to have him on our team! We hope to provide experiences in which Jason continues to grow, learn, and make Storm Services’ memories with his father-in-law!
